New course AMID Leadership Programme - Strategising for development impact
Radboud Center for Social Sciences, AMID, is pleased to announce the launch of its new executive course, the "AMID Leadership Programme - Strategising for development impact". This course is specifically designed for senior professionals and policy makers in aid agencies, NGOs, think tanks, consultancies, philanthropies, and donors. It will teach attendees how to use system change and complexity thinking to increase the impact of their organization's development efforts.
Date: March 16 2023
The AMID Leadership Programme consists of 8 meetings, comprising five online meetings and three face-to-face workshops. Each session is 2.5 hours long and will take place every other Tuesday afternoon at 3 PM CET. The course will start on October 24, 2023, and end on February 27, 2024. The sessions are structured to provide both theoretical and practical elements and are based on the latest research from the partnership "Unintended Effects of International Cooperation" between Radboud University and the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The course is led by Professor of International Aid & Trade at Radboud University, Professor Dirk-Jan Koch. Professor Koch is also currently serving as Chief Science Officer of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is Deputy Director of its Strategy Department. He aims to bridge the gap between policy, academia, and practice by balancing on it himself. The course will also feature two guest lectures from the pool of AMID lectures, based on the composition and requests of the group.
Increasing impact
Participants in the AMID Leadership Programme will learn to strategize to increase the development impact of their organizations. They will gain knowledge on how international development efforts have unintended effects and how to detect them within their own organization by applying key insights from complexity thinking. The course will also teach attendees the skills to detect their (and their organization's) blind spots on the drivers (or blockers) to the development impact of their organization. They will learn to dissent with donors and investors in a productive manner and acquire tools to create a safe working space (in a multicultural setting) for their employees, where they are rewarded for thinking out of the box.
"We are excited to launch the AMID Leadership Programme Strategising for development impact. Our aim is to provide senior professionals and policy makers with the latest evidence and appropriate learning environment to increase the impact of their organization," said Professor Koch. "We hope to inspire participants to drive change in their organization by using the insights they gain during the course."
